Week Seven : Refined Future Scenario

To refine Paddington's future emergence I believe it is essential to look for a community-sourced ethos. Macro trends and drivers underpinned the establishment of our project one future scenario and thus in grounding my work as I move forward I am more so seeking to explore the eccentricities and motivations of the existing community for inspiration.

The below diagram summarises essential triggers and key outcomes for a broader set of research and as initiated from project one. These notions are those which I believe will come to shape society on a more widespread level and underpin the paradigm of regional if not global communities.

To zero in on Paddington itself I think is to consider the dynamics of its existing social fabric. Not only does a flux of animation continually activate the area but a strong sense of connection is evident in present community relationships. Not only are shared tenancies abundant in the neighbourhood with various businesses practising from the same property but old Queenslanders are also opened up and down the streets with various residence combining home and business. The Paddington Green Precinct is additionally an emergent group of small, independently owned businesses in the area which speaks to the budding communal philosophy and direction. They aim to foster a greener, more sustainable economy and hoping to inspire people to reduce their ecological footprint.

In collecting and streamlining both these universal trends with 'on the ground' movement the below diagram represents my future vision for Paddington of 2022. I believe that not only will new practises and approaches to consumption emerge but shared values will flourish through exchange and collective outcomes.
